Martin Schramm studied International Management in Paris (MBA 1994) and Economics in Hamburg (Diploma 1997).

He started his career as a research assistant at the University of Hamburg, whre he was responsible for consultancy projects regarding micro- and macroeconomic interfaces between public and private sectors as well as studies in the fields of public finance, international and development economics. He was frequently engaged on projects giving advice to the German Government. In 2004 he earned a doctorate in economics.

Martin Schramm joined HPC in April 2004 and has specialised in privatisation, business development, financing and strategic planning. The main emphasis of his work has been project management of various privatisation projects, mainly in Africa and the Middle East, where he advises both governments and private investors. Interrelated with the aforementioned is an extensive work experience in the management of new port infrastructure development under various privatisation and business schemes. Since 2016 he is Head of Shipping Strategies.

In 2011 Martin Schramm became Visiting Professor for “Maritime Economics” at the World Maritime University Malmö.
